Introduction NHPC Recruitment
NHPC Limited, a prominent entity in hydropower development in India and neighboring countries, has unveiled a Special Recruitment Drive (SRD) aimed at candidates from Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), Other Backward Classes (OBC-NCL), and Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD). This recruitment drive is specifically for the positions of Trainee Engineer in Civil, Electrical, and Mechanical disciplines through GATE-2022 scores and Trainee Officer (Finance) through CA/CMA Scores.
NHPC: A Powerhouse in Hydropower Development
Established in 1975, NHPC Limited has evolved into a Schedule – A, Mini Ratna Category-I enterprise of the Government of India. Its engineering proficiency and expertise have positioned NHPC as a leader in the field of hydropower development. From a modest beginning with three hydro projects, NHPC now stands as a major player in the country’s hydropower landscape.
As of September 30, 2023, NHPC’s total installed capacity is an impressive 7097.20 MW, inclusive of 1546 MW in Joint Venture projects. The company’s hydro share constitutes approximately 14.88% of the country’s total installed hydro capacity of 46850.18 MW.
NHPC’s Ongoing Projects
NHPC, along with its Joint Ventures and Subsidiaries, is currently involved in the construction of 15 projects with a cumulative installed capacity of 10449 MW. This includes significant hydroelectric projects like Subansiri Lower HEP (2000 MW) and Dibang Multipurpose Project (2880 MW) in Arunachal Pradesh, Parbati-II HEP (800 MW) in Himachal Pradesh, and various solar projects in Gujarat, Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh, and other regions.
Additionally, NHPC has 13 projects in the clearance stage, totaling 4847 MW, and four Hydroelectric projects with an installed capacity of 4690 MW in the survey and investigation stage.

Recruitment Process
For Trainee Engineer (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical):
Candidates will be shortlisted based on the Normalized marks obtained (out of 100) in the corresponding paper of GATE 2022 and online Document Verification. Eligible candidates should have qualified and secured a valid score in the corresponding paper of GATE 2022.
For Trainee Officer (Finance):
Candidates will be shortlisted based on CA/CMA score and online Document Verification process.
Compensation Package
NHPC offers an attractive compensation package, including Basic Pay, Dearness Allowance, HRA, Cafeteria Allowance, Performance Related Pay (PRP), Medical Facility, Social Security Benefits, and more. During the one-year training period, selected candidates will be placed in the pay scale of ₹50,000 – 3% – 1,60,000 (IDA)
