Eligibility Requirements:
A. Age Limit (as of July 1, 2023):
The age requirements for this recruitment are as follows:
– General Category candidates: The upper age limit is 53 years.
– Candidates from Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Backward Class Muslims, Backward Classes, MBC/DNC, and DW of all castes: The upper age limit is 58 years.
B. Educational Qualifications (As of the Notification Date):
To be eligible for the positions of Graduate Teachers/BRTE, candidates must have one of the following educational qualifications:
1. Graduation and a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education.
2. Graduation with at least 50% marks and a Bachelor in Education (B.Ed.).
3. Graduation with at least 45% marks and a Bachelor in Education (B.Ed.) in accordance with NCTE Regulations.
4. Higher Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and a 4-year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.).
5. Higher Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and a 4-year B.A./B.Sc.Ed. or B.A.Ed./B.Sc.Ed.
6. Graduation with at least 50% marks and B.Ed. (Special Education).
Additionally, candidates must have obtained their degree or its equivalent in the subjects or languages relevant to the recruitment and must have passed the Tamil Nadu Teacher Eligibility Test (TNTET) Paper – II with the relevant optional subject for direct recruitment.
Candidates with qualifications (i), (iv), and (vi) are eligible for the position of Graduate Teacher for specific subjects and classes, and those with a B.Ed. (Special Education) qualification must complete a 6-month Special Programme in Elementary Education.
Candidates with a B.A./B.Sc./B.Litt. and B.Ed. (Special Education) or Senior Diploma in Teaching for the Visually Impaired/Hearing Impaired are eligible for vacancies in schools run by the Directorate for Welfare of the Differently Abled Department.
Note: All candidates must possess the qualifications prescribed by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) Regulations.
Equivalence of Qualification:
Candidates claiming an equivalence of educational qualification to the prescribed qualifications should provide evidence in the form of equivalence Government Orders (G.O.). Failure to submit this evidence during Certificate Verification (if called for) will result in the rejection of their candidature.
Qualification Criteria:
– Candidates who have obtained a Degree after undergoing a one-year course, double degrees, dual degrees, or additional degrees are not eligible to apply.
– Candidates who have obtained any two or three of the required qualifications (SSLC, HSC, U.G. degree, and B.Ed. degree) simultaneously are not eligible to apply.
– For qualifications requiring a Diploma, Degree, or Postgraduate Degree, candidates must have obtained them as per the explanation provided in Section 25 of the Tamil Nadu Government Servants (Conditions of Service) Act, 2016.
– The candidates must have obtained their qualifications according to the specified educational pattern and must hold a B.Ed. degree from a University or Institution recognized by the University Grants Commission.
Important Information:
– Candidates without the prescribed educational qualifications as of the Notification Date are not eligible to apply.
