The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) has announced a job opening for the position of Director at CSIR-Central Glass and Ceramic Research Institute (CSIR-CGCRI) located in Kolkata. CSIR, established in 1942, is a prominent research and development organization under the Ministry of Science and Technology. It has been actively contributing to the country’s development through various scientific and technological innovations.

CSIR-Central Glass and Ceramic Research Institute (CSIR-CGCRI), Kolkata, is a premier research organization known for its expertise in the field of glass, ceramics, and related materials. The institute’s research activities encompass a wide range of areas including advanced ceramics, specialty glass, bio-ceramics, energy materials, fiber optics, and more. CSIR-CGCRI is internationally recognized for its contributions to glass and ceramic research and maintains strong partnerships with government ministries and departments. The institute also offers training and skill development programs and has extension centers in Naroda (Gujarat) and Khurja (Uttar Pradesh) to serve local industrial clusters.

Job Requirements csir recruitment:

The candidate must hold a Ph.D. in Natural Sciences or a Master’s Degree in Engineering (Ph.D. desirable for Engineering). Additionally, the candidate should have at least 16 years of experience in Research and Development, with a focus on translational research in relevant areas. The age requirement is between 45 to 56 years.

Responsibilities:

The Director will be responsible for supervising and administratively controlling the staff of the institute. They will work towards realizing the institute’s mission and creating an environment conducive to innovation and high-quality research and development activities.

Appointment and Benefits:

The appointment will be for a tenure of six years or until superannuation, whichever is earlier, with a pay scale at level 15 of the Pay Matrix. Benefits include the provision to share revenues from external contract research and development, consultancy services, residential accommodation, transport, and medical facilities as per CSIR rules.
